GENERAL GUIDLINES
- All files should be built at 100% with single pages set to the trim size, with the exception of book work and two-sided pieces (these should be multi-page documents)
- All files should have .25″ bleed beyond the trim and all marks offset .25″ from trim
- Files should be named by part number whenever applicable
- Use CMYK unless spot colors are used, avoid using RGB images
- Identify PMS or special mix colors, keep names consistent and delete unused colors
- When utilizing transparency effects in Illustrator or lnDesign, keep vector art on a top layer whenever possible
- Set the Document Raster Effects (Effect Menu) to 300ppi in Illustrator before beginning the project
- Dielines should be built as a spot color named ‘Dieline’, set to Overprint and reside on their own layer
- PDF documents should be created as Print Quality (Momentum’s PDF Profiles will be sent upon request).
- Momentum will trap all files
- Supply only files, fonts, graphics and images needed for output
- Hard copy or confirming PDF should be supplied with all files to ensure correct reproduction
- Media and file transfer: lnSite is the preferred method. Other methods include: DAM (Digital Assets Management) Site, CD, DVD, Hard Drive and Flash Drive. (Contact Customer

Preferred File Formats
- File formats built to Momentum’s guidelines are accepted in:
- Adobe CS 6 or earlier •EPS
- ArtPro Native Files •PDF/X-1a
- Postscript •Press-Quality PDFs (Momentum can provide PDF Presets for generating High Resolution PDFs upon
request)
File Requirements
Images
- The only acceptable color management is the standard GRACoL2006_v2.icc profile (Momentum can provide this upon request or it’s available through (http://ideaalliance.org)
- Include all Hi-Res images/art. 300dpi for images/CTs and 800-1200dpi for 1-bit tiffs at 100% size
- Any enlargements over 125% can pixelize depending on initial resolution
- Embedding images in software programs is not recommended
Fonts
- Include copies of all fonts used in your file, graphics and images
- We recommend using OpenType, Type1 or Postscript fonts. TrueType and Multimaster fonts are no longer supported and we don’t recommend using them.
- Embed all fonts when writing PDF’s (Momentum’s PDF Profiles will be sent upon request)
- Don’t include system fonts (.dfont) when collecting for output, instead include the actual font
- Fonts 9 points or smaller on digitally produced work may not reproduce satisfactorily. We recommend using 10 point or larger Sans Serif fonts. Contact Momentum’s PrePress department for questions.
- Outlined fonts are not recommended
Supplied Proof Specifications
- All proofs must be generated from the final file used for imaging
- All proofs must have a dieline overlay or have the dieline incorporated into the proof
- Contract proofs supplied to Momentum should simulate the substrate the job is being produced on. (Please contact Customer Service for more details)

- Contract Proofs generated by Momentum: Epson 9900 (Max width: 42″)
- Content Proofs generated by Momentum: Epson 11880 and Epson 9700 (Max width: 59.5”)
